my story
Growing up I have always lived a very active lifestyle. Throughout childhood and adolescence, I was involved in a variety of sports being most passionate about gymnastics. During my freshman year of college, I competed on a STUNT team at the collegiate level where I was a starting base and tumbler. After multiple injuries, I decided to retire from athletics entirely. At this time is when I became more passionate about health, fitness, and the importance of recovery, but I constantly found myself battling a cycle of inconsistency, injuries, and was uneducated about the importance of nutrition (as seen in the first image). It wasn’t until I tried an at-home workout program and became educated on the importance of macronutrients that I found consistency in health and fitness. For so long, I thought I could eat whatever I wanted as long as I was moving my body. For so long, I thought there was no way an at-home workout program could be effective. I was VERY wrong. By prioritizing macronutrients and doing at-home workouts with minimal equipment and less than 40 minutes per day, I transformed not only my physical physique but my overall health and wellness (as seen in the second image). By transforming my at-home workouts to incorporate Strength x Pilates-based movements, I have been able to benefit my overall health even further with an emphasis on deep core and pelvic floor strengthening, mobility and stability, and overall recovery (as seen in the third image). Throughout adolescence and into adulthood, I found myself experiencing a vast majority of pelvic floor dysfunction symptoms as well - symptoms that I ignored for a very long time and thought were “normal”. After furthering my knowledge on the importance of pelvic floor dysfunction and strengthening through my career as an OT and now as a CPT, I have developed a passion to educate other women on the importance and how to overcome these very common and not “normal” symptoms through strength training and pilates by prioritizing core engagement.
